In the year 2009, over the Internet we send calls and discuss topics we like. Even banking has hit the Internet.

But 50 years ago it was only a vague idea. Before 1957, computers could only work on one task a time. Eventually computers got bigger and had to be stored in cooled rooms.

Once time-sharing — the ability to share processing power with multiple users came up — the basic notion of the server had come into fruition.
