When a foal is born, its first interactions with its mother involve it memorizing her scent. Just like with humans, other family members gather around to offer protection and support to the two.

The greatest challenge in life for this newborn wild horse is the struggle to stand up. You see, to make the birth easier, its hooves are born very soft — before quickly hardening.

With an hour, the first awkward steps begin.
