A new study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association shows that occasional cannabis smoking isn’t as harmful as smoking cigarettes. Cannabis is increasingly popular in society, and its level of harm isn’t clear.

Meanwhile it’s becoming increasingly illegal. While many of the same irritants are in tobacco and cannabis, the tobacco is worse. Study participants’ lung function was gauged. Air flow rates and lung volumes actually increased for cannabis use.

However very high levels of cannabis smoking has unclear, if any, lung benefits.
