A 2012 FOIA request has revealed that the FBI has had a presence at the Burning Man festival since 2010, to ‘aid in the prevention of terrorist activities and intelligence collection’.
The heavily-redacted16-page response to the filing by Inkoo Kang inquiring about the *technology being used to secretly gather the information* was largely blanked out.
This revelation came just as the 29th Burning Man festival was about to begin, in the Black Rock Desert of Nevada.
The FBI document describes the festival as a ‘cultural and artisan event, which promote (sic) free expression by the participants’.
