Burning Man 2013 by Drone: In the Dust, Above the Dust

This is a quick video edited together from a few flights taken by a store-bought “drone”, filmed by an attendee of the most recent Burning Man Festival, over what is endearingly called “the playa” – as in “beach” in Spanish.

It is a week-long festival held at the end of August in the forbidding Black Rock Desert of Northern Nevada.

It is astonishing how this yearly gathering, which began in 1986 with less then 20 members, on a Northern California beach has morphed into this yearly event, now variously described as an experiment in community, art, radical self-expression, and radical self-reliance.

In 2010, 51,515 people attended Burning Man.

This clip was filmed using a GoPro Hero 3:Black camera on a TBS Discovery Pro quadrotor.
Flown by DragonLink.

Music: “We Can’t Fly” by Aeroplane
