Hell, I’m here. Why not?
This is a hilarious parody the Brazilian national anthem by one YouTuber dubbed ThDubya.
It is notoriously bizarre among the Brazilian people, themselves – both in its strange blend of waltz and marching tune, as well as in its lyrics.
It might be all the weirder to the American ear (if it could understand Portuguese) because it makes no mention of war.
I couldn’t sleep last night (as usual) and I couldn’t get Brazil’s national anthem out of my head, so below was my first attempt to translate the 19th century language of the anthem, which the more I look at it, reads like a futuristic and even a post-human hymn, of some kind.
Here’s the 1st verse: (I can’t make all of the syllables in English fall into its rhythm, nor can I make it rhyme in English, unless I spend 2 weeks on it)…the second verse gets a lot weirder…maybe for another time!

‘Twas heard on the peaceful banks of the Ipiranga [River]
Of a heroic peoples with an insistent chorus
