Here’s some background on the beautiful short about the 39 species of Birds of Paradise, that I ran the other morning

In collaboration with the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, photographer Tim Laman and Cornell University ornithologist Ed Scholes spend countless hours high in the treetops to record the secret lives, bizarre displays, and dazzling courtship antics of these stunning birds.

The two ornithologists talk about their 8 year journey in documenting and studying the 39 species of Birds of Paradise, all of them distant cousins of crows, jays and magpies, with which we’re more likely to be familiar.

Listening to them describe each set-up and then to see the successful results speaks volumes about the hard work, dedication, focus, perseverance and passion for what you do in your life that produces excellent results.
