Angered by Money in Politics Pilot Lands on US Capitol Lawn

Doug Hughes is a 61-year-old mailman from Florida. He is alarmed by the amount of anonymous money flowing into the pockets of candidates for high office. A 2010 Supreme Court decision allows nonprofit corporations, some of which secret and foreign entities finance, to make unlimited campaign contributions. On April 15, hoping to save his country from going down the drain, Hughes made good on two years of planning, and flew his flying bicycle, or gyrocopter, around the Washington Monument, across the National Mall and right onto the lawn of the U.S. Capitol. Hughes greeted arresting officers with letters to every member of Congress, which called for an end to dark money.
