The 2008 unearthing of a 1,000-year-old mummified girl from the ancient Wari culture in Peru has added fuel to a scientifically-unsubstantiated debate as to whether there were Caucasians living in the Americas before the historical European colonizations, beginning in the 15th century, CE. The reason for this speculation are the blue stones representing eyes on her burial mask.
