2,000-Year-Old Sculptures Found by Mexican Archaeologists

Mexican archaeologists have found two-millennium-old sculptures that are shedding light on the Mayan culture.

These statues show two warriors with their hands tied behind their backs. They bear inscriptions that show where they came from.

It’s an important finding because these are prisoners are Honduras. This means that the Mayan empire was absolutely gigantic. It signals that Mayan warfare against other city-states might have led to the civilization’s downfall.
