16 “Anonymous” Hackers Arrested by the FBI

The FBI conducted a dozen raids in several states targeting the notorious hacking group “Anonymous.” Two online collectives, Anonymous and LulzSec, claimed responsibility for a string of Internet attacks in recent months, bringing down Web sites and hacking into corporate and government systems.

In an indictment unsealed Tuesday afternoon in United States District Court in San Jose, Calif., 14 people were charged in connection with an attack on the Web site of the payment service PayPal last December, after the company suspended accounts set up for donating funds to WikiLeaks.
