Ned Sullivan was in a car accident, in which his neck was broken and he suffered a severe brain injury. The doctors said he was never going to move again, never going to talk again, never going to eat again.

Through his own resilience and with the help of Kasey, a capuchin monkey, he is able to all of the above.

The Helping Hands Foundation trains and places capuchin monkeys in the homes of people with spinal cord and brain injuries, in a remarkably successful program, which offers more than just help but as Ned points out, solace and solidarity.

Due to various laws governing animals and people, this program is, to date only available in the US.

    • At age 78 I had spinal surgery which didn’t work out as well as it should have. But my young Border Collie keeps me going, forcing me to hike daily with her and gradually things are looking better. Pets are the greatest thing to keep folks looking forward to the next day. Keep up the good work, Ned.

    • The Helping Hands Foundation is such an important program and that is proven through Ned and Kasey. Thank you Ned for letting me watch the interaction between you and Kasey it was a privilege. Kasey is adorable! ??

    • This is something beyond any ordinary imagining – quite extraordinary and utterly amazing. Thank you Ned and Kasey and your family too for allowing us to see this film.

    • This is a beautiful short video. We humans can learn a lot from animals and I mean a lot. It also shows that apart from having feelings, animals can understand when there are injuries sustained and are able to help us.

    • Lovely to see. Perhaps more of us humans will be elevated in our perceptions, having seen this.
      Thank you.
Foster respect for all of creation.

    • I think we are one of the lower ranks of animals. I’ve learned so much from the supposedly lower species about how to conduct myself better. Love from all, but especially from dogs and even cats. Independence from cats. Persistence from squirrels. The list just goes on and on. We are just one small part of the whole. Thanks for this video, Jim
