Worldwide bestselling author, Graham Hancock joins Dark Journalist, Daniel Liszt to discuss ‘Magicians of the Gods’ his long-awaited sequel to his classic 1996 book, ‘Fingerprints of the Gods.’
Hancock’s discussion begins with the relatively recent and “game-changing” discovery of the mysterious 12,000-year-old site in Turkey, at Gobekli Tepe.
30 times the size of Stonehenge, the complex is particularly mysterious because there is ample evidence that it was intentionally buried by human labor – not by flood or encroaching dunes.
Hancock surmises that forthcoming discoveries from this site will vindicate his lifework and support his longstanding proposals about an antediluvian civilization, which was global in scale.
Although not mentioned directly in this interview, the work of nuclear physicist, Dr. Richard Firestone, among others has been vital to backing Hancock’s latest claims. Firestone (who, himself faced-down the disfavor of the fossilized scientific establishment) contends that a cometary impact in the Great Lakes area of North America was the cause of the mass extinction of the megafauna on both that continent and in Siberia, along with the disappearance of the “Paleoindian” Clovis Culture, as well as the meteorological Younger-Dryas Period, from c. 12,900 to c. 11,700 years ago (BP), which marked a sharp decline in temperature over most of the Northern Hemisphere, at the end of the Pleistocene Epoch, immediately preceding our current, warmer Holocene Epoch.
This event occurred during a time when the region was covered with glacial ice that was three miles thick, preventing the detection of a crater, although further work has since revealed the characteristic geological evidence of an enormous impact, despite the softening of the blow by a massive polar ice cap. This, in addition to the information, which he originally produced, including a “black matte” of burnt organic substances and the many other characteristics of a high-pressure, extraterrestrial impact, such as micro-spherules of minerals and nano-diamonds, found throughout the Northern Hemisphere, as far away as Germany, as I reported in my own last book, ‘2012: Science or Superstition.’
Hancock believes that clues in the stones at Gobekli Tepe encode advanced knowledge of architecture, technology and spirituality, deliberately left by survivors of a major Earth cataclysm from which the survivors of developing cultures could learn. Hancock also believes that we haven’t seen the last of this comet, which has been breaking up over our heads ever since and whose remnants comprise the Taurid Complex of meteor showers, through which the Earth passes twice annually. Hancock believes that a large chunk, perhaps as large as one half a mile in diameter remains of the original object in the Taurid Complex and that a likelihood exists that it will collide with the Earth one day.
As Hancock has written for decades now, traces of this global civilization can be seen in the high cultures of Sumer, Egypt, the Maya, Easter Island and others, including in the recent discovery of of a pyramid-building culture on the island of Java in Indonesia, which has been carbon-dated at 20,000 years old.
Hancock is very frank about his unpleasant battles with establishment archaeologists of academe over the years, which made him loathe to re-enter the fray. He cites dirty tricks that were used to discredit the work of both him and his colleagues, in their attempts to block their work from mainstream acceptance.
Most recently in 2013, Hancock’s TEDTalk, “The War on Consciousness,” as well as that of Rupert Sheldrake, “The Science Delusion” were banned from the TED website. He describes scrambling his more technically-adept friends to back up these talks and to mirror them far and wide, to beat TED’s embargo and make these talks more viral than they would have otherwise been.
