James Corbett gives his humorous analysis of his fine website’s inclusion in the infamous Prop0rNot.com “Russian Propagandist List”, published last week in the thoroughly-discredited Washington Post and the New York Times.

These bastions of journalistic integrity (sic) endorsed this absurd article from Prop Or Not, a site even more dubious their own, and seriously (embarrassingly) cited it as somehow “authoritative”, as part of their monolithic push against #FakeNews, a big-budget effort seeking $160M from he Pentagon to stem its inexorable tide.

The push against #FakeNews went into high gear, across all Mainstream Media outlets, beginning on Thanksgiving Weekend and continued with Hillary’s emergence a couple of days ago, as an unemployed politician pontificating on the “dangers” of #FakeNews. Why was this televised? She lost. She needs to hightail it to non-extraditable Qatar, already.

WashPo and the NY Times were recently forced to make retractions about their Prop Or Not stories and admit that it was the latter that was likely publishing “Fake News”. This retraction may not have occurred if another website published on that list, NakedCapitalism.com hadn’t threatened to sue them for defamation and damages, unless they made those retractions – which they both did.

As Corbett says, “Join me today, as I look into the latest pathetic attempt by a flailing establishment to bolster their discredited mouthpiece media organs [to] counter the ascendant alternative media.”

The New York Times reported a 20% drop in revenue for the 3rd Quarter of 2016, during what should have been a profitable advertising season, during the run-up to the US Presidential Election.

Several established Mainstream Media outlets are announcing mass layoffs, in the wake of poor…EVERYTHING, including #FakeNews, which in light of how many millions of people have died as a result of their own #FakeNews over the past 15 years one can only hope blows up in their faces and rapidly reduces their market share to nil.

    • It seems that Prop or not suddenly appeared at the same time HRC announced that Russia had influenced the election process.
To be this fast for a group to be up and running stinks like CIA/FBI/NSA or one of those acronyms infamous plans again.
Instead of focusing on a non-topic why didn’t they get their group up against American prop by the MOP?
This is such nonsense, it feels like back to the WWII where various European gvts were engaged in propaganda to influence the course of the war. How could Americans still fall for this naive tactic?

    • That was totally awesome! I haven’t paid attention to MSN, CBS, the Wall Street Journal, or any other so called lamestream media in over 2 years. I’m constantly pointing out to people that they are the SOURCE for propaganda from the government. I find it hysterical that they are now crying foul after what, 50 years of lies, half truths, insinuations and blatant disinformation. I also don’t watch TV, cable that is, which really bugs my ISP provider. LOL Take care. Another great article!

    • Have you consider a class action lawsuit with hundreds of ALT media sites suing the appropriate MSM sites or even the government

      just a thought

      thanks

    • November 2015 saw Barak Obama, John Kerry, and Hillary Clinton speaking out about the Russian news organization, Russia Today (RT), and it’s ‘pernicious effect on the minds of Americans.

One of my local ‘Public’ TV stations, supported by Delta College, at the time had on RT twice a day at 6:00 PM, and 9:00 PM. About a month after the public pronouncements by the three mentioned above, suddenly RT was cut from prime time and moved to a three o’clock AM time slot. Well, even this was not enough, after a few months RT was then cut from Delta College’s programming altogether.

It is easier to censor unwanted TV broadcasts through black out, then it is to stop internet sites. I believe the ‘list’ is a test, that has failed, but is the first step to finding what will work in a total censorship strategy to insure that we are mal informed by ‘our’ mainstream info works, or put another way, our Ministry of Information.

      • Russia Today was also hit badly at their UK HQ, when their bank recently informed them that they would no longer process their transactions after the end of this month (not sure what the solution will be – not sure if all banks in the UK will take the same tack). British PM, Theresa May seemed well-chuffed about it all, when asked for comment.

I agree with you completely that this is a test, as we’re now seeing EU countries bombarding their hapless couch potato populaces with the #FakeNews motif, in tandem with the US’ MSM. This began to be revealed in an address to the UN by former UK PM David Cameron (significant passage starts at 4:40): https://forbiddenknowledgetv.net/decoded-censorship-speech-by-david-cameron/ . Two months after this address, Google reduced the income I received from running their ads on my site to 20% of what it had been for 4.5 years, from one month to the next. There was no warning for me. Just a sudden loss of sustenance, so I tore their ads off my site and I’ve been struggling to reinvent this business ever since and I may have to give up soon.

Only a couple of months ago, many YouTubers using Google ads to earn ad revenue were informed that they would be cut off from earnings (before they were cut off), if among other things, their posts discussed war (even without showing scenes or including textual descriptions of violence). In other words, if you’re anti-war, you are subject to the corporate censorship of Google’s now-public Terms of Service (I believe that this was my primary offense).

We know from the Snowden leaks that Google receives $50M/yr from NSA to share their data on us. We also know that Google was developed in part by the CIA and that DARPA bigwigs work there.

As I’ve stated before, my page views dropped to 1/6th of normal over Thanksgiving weekend, when the #FakeNews trope was deployed on us. These have recovered somewhat. However recent stories about members of Congress tabling an initiative requiring $160M from the Pentagon to filter #FakeNews, I’m not sure how things will play out.

I made this recent post to Facebook, quoting Information Clearing House:

“Fake news propagated by the US government and collaborating organizations such as the New York Times and Washington Post helped create an environment in which the US was able to illegally invade Iraq in 2003, killing at least one million and possibly upwards of two million people, including the deaths of some 4,500 US soldiers, according to a meta-study by Nobel-winning Physicians for Social Responsibility.
“Just this November, nearly 6,000 people were killed in Iraq thanks to the conflicts that are still raging due to the invasion (which is ongoing), and it was not an atypical month – even more were killed in October…

“The next question that arises would be how to punish the offenders of the illegal speech. Sticking to US legal precedent, we may note that the US, at Nuremberg, executed Germans who it determined had issued fake news in service of creating the conditions for Germany to invade other nations. And though the death penalty has since been eradicated in most of the world, it has not been in the US…

“People at these outlets have recently begun to express that there should be limits on fake news. However, they have only made such statements in reference to others, not themselves, perhaps illustrating the level of regard they have for the thousands of US soldiers and million-plus Iraqis that have died and are dying thanks in part to the fake news they disseminate.”

        http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article45996.htm

I hope this #FakeNews BS explodes in their faces and that everybody stops watching and buying it – and starts returning products from their advertisers back to those companies, demanding a refund! If 2 million people did this, these evil people would go out of business, which is the very least that they deserve.

        • Maybe it is time for alternative media to pull all their resources together and create a Google-like or YouTube-like platform to be able to keep broadcasting/streaming.
Nothing new has been created in that field which means that Goog, Yah, and YouT own the market.
